France is ready to accept cryptocurrency as donations for the restoration of Notre Dame de Paris. This was recently announced by the Acting Minister for the Digital Economy of France, Cedric Oh.
In his message, Cédric Oh voiced the position of the state authorities regarding the digital currency and said that France is open for cooperation with cryptocurrency platforms. In particular, the same conditions will apply to this collection option as for fiat currencies: organizations will not charge a transfer fee, payment data are collected for tax deductions, and funds will be sent through one of four approved organizations.
Many crypto enthusiasts previously also expressed a desire to leave donations in bitcoins. For example, the Cointelegraph has already launched its own campaign to collect cryptocurrency donations for the restoration of the temple through the international blockchain project created by BlockShow. Also, the Binance cryptocurrency exchange launched a program to support the restoration of the cathedral through a charity portal on the blockchain of the Blockchain Charity Foundation (BCF) founded by the company.
It is reported that the total amount that was collected two days after the fire is € 900 million euros (more than $ 1 billion).
